Local Girl Scouts will celebrate
National 90th birthday of Scouting
FORT LAUDERDALE, FL --- Girl Scouts of the United States of America (GSUSA) celebrates its 90th birthday in March of this year. To celebrate locally, the Girl Scouts of Broward County will hold a 90th Birthday Celebration on Saturday, March 9th at Esplanade Park and the Museum of Discovery & Science (MODS) in Downtown Fort Lauderdale.
Four thousand area-Girl Scouts are expected over two sessions being offered (morning 8 a.m. –12:30 p.m. and afternoon 12:30 –5 p.m.) with an array of birthday highlights, including; a live entertainment stage in Esplanade Park featuring “The Dinner Dogs” (a Parents magazine award winning band); group sing-a-longs; vintage Girl Scout uniform fashion show; community displays – plus the fun, science and technology program inside MODS with activities designed especially for the Girl Scouts big day.
The event is open to Girl Scouts and their families for $9 per person (includes admission to MODS) and each participant will receive a piece of the giant birthday cake, a commemorative event patch and a surprise souvenir. Discount tickets to the I-Max Theater on March 9th for Girl Scouts and their families will be made available for $4.50 at the theater box office. Garage parking is available for $7 per vehicle.
