Girl Scouts will dance and cheer with the Miami Dolphins for second annual Girl Scouts Day
Fort Lauderdale, FL --- The Miami Dolphins will host the second annual “Girl Scouts Day” exclusively for the Girl Scouts of Broward County on Sunday, November 7, 2004 at Pro Player Stadium.
As a special bonus to this already exciting day, 250 Girl Scouts will take part in a private “Cheerleading Clinic” led by the Miami Dolphins Cheerleaders from 10 –11 a.m. on November 7. Girl Scouts will be on the field, in groups by age, with the Dolphin Cheerleaders to learn cheerleading basics and choreography for an official Miami Dolphins dance routine.
Last November, more than 720 Girl Scouts, Girl Scout Troops and families filled a special section in the 400 level of Pro Player Stadium. This year the Girl Scouts will be there as the Miami Dolphins host the Arizona Cardinals at 1:00 p.m.
The Girl Scouts, both locally and nationally, actively promotes a national initiative to encourage and support health and fitness specifically designed for girls, their interests and their skill levels. Using the President's Council on Physical Fitness and Sports report, 'Physical Activity and Sports in the Lives of Girls' as a guide, the Girl Scouts has designed local programs and activities to demonstrate the benefits of sports participation for girls and why parents/guardians should get involved in their girl's activities.
“We are delighted to hold this program with the Miami Dolphins again,” said Executive Director Leslie Roth. “The health of Americans is slowly declining, specifically children’s health due to inactivity. The Girl Scouts is responding – like it always does – to what girls need to grow healthy and strong. We know from the research that girls who participate in sports do better academically.”
