Girl Scouts Host an Evening to “Tie-Dye” For!

FORT LAUDERDALE, FL --- The psychedelic sixties came alive at the second annual Girl Scouts of Broward County’s second annual fundraising gala held on March 1, 2003 at the Westin Diplomat Resort in Hollywood.

More than 200 guests experienced the "Age of Aquarius" as Hippies, Folkies, Mods and Go-Go's in the midst of swirling sound and psychedelic surprises. Guests were welcomed into a cocktail reception, which offered cool temporary tattoos, photographs, food and drink, as well as 55 outrageous silent auction packages. Live music and entertainment was a non-stop thrill ride care of La Mystique Entertainment and a four-act show transporting guests back to the 1960’s and 70’s.

At the event the Girl Scouts 2003 “Change the World” Award, was bestowed upon Lifetime Girl Scout, Florida State Senator Debby P. Sanderson, formerly of District 31. The “Change the World” Award is presented annually by the Girl Scouts of Broward County to honor the achievements of a local community-minded person who has made a significant contribution of time and expertise in a combination of direct service and leadership to Broward County.
