Girl Scouts Gear Up for Golf

     Oakland Park, FL --- The Girl Scouts of Broward County, Inc. (GSBC) will host its third annual adult golf tournament on Saturday, June 1, 2002 – aptly titled: “On the Green for Girl Scouts.” The event will be held at the Jacaranda Golf Club, in Plantation, and begin with a shotgun start at 8 a.m.
     
     “On the Green for Girl Scouts” offers players a morning round of 18-holes followed by a luncheon, awards ceremony, raffle prize drawing, and silent auction. Golf contests will include Top Team Score, Closest to the Pin (men & women), Longest Drive (men & women), and a Hole-in-One Challenge sponsored by Holman Lincoln Mercury of Hollywood – giving golfers a chance to win a 2002 Lincoln LS.
     
     More than 50 raffle prizes will include: weekend get-a-ways for two at the Sheraton Suites Plantation and Sheraton Yankee Trader in Fort Lauderdale; annual South Florida PGA golf passes; professional golf lessons; golf foursomes at Emerald Hills, Raintree and Crystal Lake; golf equipment; restaurant and spa gift certificates; and much, much more.
     
     Silent Auction items will include: a team autographed soccer ball by the 2000 U.S. Women’s Soccer Team; an autographed football by Miami Dolphins quarterback Jay Fiedler (#9); a team autographed soccer ball by the 2001 Miami Fusion Soccer Team; lady’s and men’s jewelry; a Florida Marlins home-game sky box at Pro Player Stadium for eight – including beverages and parking passes.
     
     Cost to play is $90 per player and $350 per foursome. Registration includes green fees; cart rental, lunch and a golfer’s goodie bag. All proceeds will benefit the Girl Scouts of Broward County, Inc. and the 9,000 girls and 4,500 adult volunteers it serves.
