Broward County Girl Scouts Will Honor Susie Levan

Fort Lauderdale, FL --- The Girl Scouts of Broward County, Inc. (GSBC) has announced the honoree for their 2004 “Change the World” Award, Susie Levan.
Levan is the Founder, Publisher and Editor-in-Chief of Balance Magazine, Susie Levan. The 2004 “Change the World” Award will be presented to Levan at the Girl Scouts annual gala fundraiser on February 28, 2004.
The “Change the World” Award is presented annually by the Girl Scouts of Broward County to honor the achievements of a local community-minded person who has made a significant contribution of time and expertise in a combination of direct service and leadership to Broward County.
Susie Levan is currently the CEO of Beach House Publishing, Inc. and the Founder, Publisher and Editor-in-Chief of Balance Magazine…Personal Growth for Women. Balance Magazine is a quarterly lifestyle magazine for today’s busy baby boomer women, 40-59, focusing on personal growth and self-development with editorial covering health, wealth and happiness to empower baby boomer women to achieve proactive personal and professional balance. Susie Levan’s Balance Magazine is the cornerstone of her focus for women.
Levan began her Girl Scouting career in the 3rd grade in Miami as a Brownie and subsequently became an adult Girl Scout and active local volunteer. Levan led her daughter Lauren’s Brownie troop for two years in Pinecrest, Florida. Levan is a current member of the Girl Scouts and has been a strong advocate for the Girl Scout mission. The Girl Scouts of Broward County recognizes Susie Levan as an admired member of our community, with a strong focus on the issues of women and our community’s youth, and believes that she exemplifies the ideals of the Girl Scout Mission and embodies the spirit for which this Award was created.
The third annual Girl Scout gala will be held at the Sheraton Yankee Trader Beach Hotel on Fort Lauderdale Beach. The theme of the 2004 gala is “Leap to the Future.” The event includes a cocktail reception followed by dinner, live entertainment and dancing and auction excitement. Tickets are $150 per person. Sponsorship packages are available. All proceeds benefit the Girl Scouts of Broward County and the more than 14,000 members it serves each year.
