     Girl Scouts hosts free monthly open-house events for adults
     
     Fort Lauderdale, FL --- The Girl Scouts of Broward County, Inc. (GSBC) is proud to launch a series of free, one-hour open house events entitled “The Power of the Promise.” These events are designed to introduce, or re-introduce, adults to Girl Scouting in this community.
     
     Held monthly at the Girl Scout headquarters in Oakland Park, off 33rd Avenue & Commercial Boulevard, networking and refreshments will take place from 5:45 – 6 p.m. and the program will take place 6 –7 p.m.
     
     Guests will be introduced to Girl Scouting and shown how the organization has grown and changed since its inception 92 years ago in Savannah, Georgia. The program is interactive and informative, as well as fun. In addition to a virtual tour, guests will have the opportunity to hear from girls, Troop Leaders, long-time volunteers and new volunteers, as well as staff members.
     
     The goal of these events is to spread the word about Girl Scouting in Broward in order to eventually recruit new volunteers and secure the resources to sustain the organization. The Girl Scouts has a waiting list of girls in every city in Broward. These events will illustrate the needs of the girls and what Girl Scouting really can do for a girl at any age.

     Founded locally in 1951, today the Girl Scouts of Broward County, Inc. serves more than 9,100 girls and 4,500 adult volunteers. Girls are from age 4 to 17. Adult volunteers are men or women, age 18 and over.
