Oakland Park, FL --- Girl Scout traditions? We have so many! Some include our annual camporees, our annual food drive, the much anticipated annual cookie sale, and our annual all-county recruitment event entitled “Round-Up” night.

Girl Scouts of Broward County will host its annual countywide “Round-Up” night on Thursday, September 7, 2006. “Round-Ups” are information sessions and registration sites where parents (and guardians) can bring their girls to meet volunteers and receive information about today’s exciting Girl Scout program and get registered for a brand new year. Girl Scout “Round-Ups” will be held from 7 – 8:30 p.m. in more than 50 Broward’s public schools on September 7.

“When students go back to school, we want parents to think back to Girl Scouting,” said Chief Executive Officer Leslie Roth, “Girl Scouts is more exciting than ever this year, with more than 110 different programs; we have something to offer every school-age girl in Broward County. Our goal is to attract at least 1,000 new girls on September 7.”

Girl Scout adult volunteers will be on hand at each “Round-Up” location to answer questions about the programs and organization as well as how girls, led by caring adults, are spending time together, learning new things, and having fun. A parent or guardian must accompany girls to “Round-Up” night.

The Girl Scouts of Broward County has created a special website for parents, or other family members, to visit in order to find a September 7 “Round-Up” location, in their area or at their child’s school: www.browardgirlscouts.org/round-up. In addition to these school “Round-Up” locations, we have also added other locations (and alternate dates in September) to make every attempt to reach girls, and new adult volunteers, who want to join Girl Scouting.

Girl Scouts of Broward County, Inc. serves more than 8,900 girls and 4,500 adult volunteers. “Round-Up” night is presented in proud partnership with our community supporter the South Florida Sun-Sentinel. For more information about the Girl Scouts of Broward County, for a complete list of “Round-Up” locations, or if you can’t make it to a “Round-Up” locations and still want to register your girl, call 954-739-7660.
